Hello!!

Starting with the basic info, my name is Kandy and I am an artist, born and raised in Louisville, KY. I create a variety of different types of art. In addition to mixed media, acrylic flow and abstract paintings on canvas, I also make wood home decor and jewelry. Mine has been a journey through many art forms over the decades. Starting out refinishing furniture, before it was considered an art, for many years. Then on to re-purposing pallets. Now I create my own simple, unique and still somewhat pallet style home decor.

As for art on canvas, my introduction to that was with Mixed Media. My definition of that art form is - any feeling, thought or idea you can express on a background, using anything and everything you can fit and attached to it! LOL  It has been about 8 years since then. I have still continued to create pieces,  but I have mainly concentrated on other forms the last 2 or 3 years. However, in the past few months, I have started to create clocks which have a very Mixed Media feel.

In between the pallet re-purposing and mixed media I picked up jewelry, which I also still create from time to time. I met a gentleman that taught me several different stitches for sewing the beads. I do still use the typical links also and sometimes a combination of both.

Next, for about a year, I tried my hand with oils and Bob Ross. I did enjoy it and "many happy little trees were hiding in my brushes", but I REALLY did not enjoy the clean up ! I am not a careful or "neat in my process" artist, no matter the medium or form! I am messy, and sorry to say somewhat wasteful. I LUV throwing it on the canvas to see what happens or what effects appear. Personally, I didn't find oils very forgiving or easy to experiment with.

Then about 3 years ago I found Painting Pouring or Acrylic Flow Art. I totally fell in love with the whole process and organic feel of the  outcome. It is so messy and meditative for me. Self taught through YouTube and my natural curiosity of "what would happen if I did this?!", I am STILL in luv with it. With that, I just seemed to naturally flow into abstract art. That was about a year ago. Now pouring paint is my go to for a "meditative and relaxing" attitude, with abstract and mixed media being my "I want to experiment and a challenge" state of mind.

So, all said and done, I haven't had any formal training. Just a curiosity and a luv for creativity. Also, it's pretty awesome to see someone's face light up when they fall for a piece of my art, whatever form it takes. I always strive for perfection, even with all my messiness! LOL I have no idea how that is reconciled, but I am TOTALLY a messy perfectionist.

Thanx so much for your time and interest!!!!
